Kandy View Hotel was great with its fine view over the nearby forest. The staff were particularly attentive. The breakfast was hearty and offered a nice variety, perfect to start my day.

Their hospitalities were quite good. The manager was very skillful in arranging the things and directing the staffs. On the day of our departure, we made a day trip to Sigiriya. The driver from the hotel was reliable (in his driving manner) and he did not push us to do anything on the way even we were behind the schedule. So we enjoyed the trip a lot. After the trip, Hotel offered us a special room (because we already checked out) for taking shower and preparing our luggage. And we were delivered at the airport just in time.
Elevator was not available to get to upper floors.

The views from our room were fine, overlooking the mountains. The hot water in the bathroom barely worked .

The location was magnificent and unbeatable, 5 km to Victoria Reservoir SPB airport, perfectly reachable. The rooms were huge and cheap, were equipped with a very nice view and town views.
The staff was very very bad.

great access to parks and landmarks for all walking enthusiasts
during my stay, I found the rooftop restaurant to be a fantastic place to enjoy delicious Sri Lankan food, and the friendly staff really made me feel at home as I explored the surrounding area with its nearby attractions such as the Museum of Rajaa Elephant just under 2 km away and the beautiful Temple of the Tooth Museum, an easy walk of around 1.5 km.

The location was marvellous and lovely, staff was incredibly welcoming! Also - so close to the amazing restaurant Ping Pong Pang, which is 500 meters close, Kandy Lake, Mountain View, Sacred tooth temple and a hill side of Kandy.

I had a room on the top floor with a fantastic view of the wooded hills around. The room was large, light, airy and and clean. It's 7 years old, but very clean and rooms look new. The manager was great and can fix anything for you - sightseeing, transport etc. :) Great tasting meals and attentive service. Great views from the dining area. Wonderful stay - would definately stay here again.
No AC, TV or minibar, but what do you expect for the money? I paid $50 a night including taxes and breakfast and was happy with that. The sheets were tired and the bed a bit hard, plus the walls don't quite reach the ceiling, so I could hear loud snoring at night and noises from the room(s) next door. The location, whilst it had great views, was a long walk from town [steeply uphill on the way back], so paid for a tuk tuk each time I came to & from hotel.

We enjoyed the great view across valley and mountains and the special hospitality including the personal concern of the owner, Mr Kanchana, for the well-being of his guests. He also arranged a great 5 day tour through the mountains (Nuwara Eiliy and Ella), to the Yala National Park and on the the beaches of Dickwella for us, a no worries, all-inclusive trip at a nice price and a priceless, careful driver cum tour guide. We also enjoyed a dip in the hotel's pool after a long day, a very refreshing and revitalizing experience. When our 4 days at the hotel came to an end, our children would have liked to stay on for a few days.

If you are on a budget trip to Kandy I will strongly recommend you to stay in this hotel. We reserved the deluxe room on the top floor and believe you me, the view from the room was fantastic. Besides that the most amazing thing about this hotel is the owner of the hotel, Mr. Kanchana Ranasingha. He is an interesting personality whom one could find moving around every where, interacting with the guests and trying to solve their problems and give every possible comfort to them. He actually called us in Pakistan when we got the room reserved in his hotel. He gave us his personal laptop to check e-mail.
1) The hotel is situation quite at a distance from the city center. 2) There is no lift in the hotel so one needs to climb the stairs. 3) The bed was so small that it was almost impossible for two adults to sleep with a three years old child. However, Mr. Kanchana gave us a complimentary mattress and made things easier for us.

We really enjoyed the spacious studio with a amazing view of the mountains. The staff were accommodating, especially Ajith and the owner, Mr Kanchana, were really nice to ensure we had everything we needed with our two kids.
My kids wished there were more activities for them.
